Richard Snowden 1950-2014
Richard Snowden was a British post-war, contemporary painter who spent his life painting alongside farming in his beloved Lower Wharfedale in North Yorkshire.
Unencumbered by formal art training Richard developed his own eclectic and distinctive style. He painted intuitively and energetically, choosing subjects that interested him and claiming that it was colour blindness that led to the extraordinary colour combinations he created on canvas.
From his first sell-out exhibition aged 18 he went on to become one of Yorkshire’s most popular contemporary artists. Known for his colourful landscapes, animals, and flirty ladies. His work became sought after being collected and exhibited all over the UK with key regular exhibitions in Yorkshire and London.
A selection of prints are available through The Gallery at the Limes and the remaining original paintings from his estate can be viewed by appointment.
