‘improvising’ – creating spontaneously, without preparation
Working with Lesley Birch, this one-day Masterclass invites you to
play and create a series of paintings from a floral still life set-up.
Lesley’s approach is free and intuitive, picking out moments from what she sees
and responding by making marks over the entire surface using different media.
Her improvisation method may seem risky, but in fact it is not at all fast or furious.
Instead, it’s a slow build-up process of play using random colours and a restricted palette.
You’ll be working with watercolour, gouache, inks and pencil.
You’ll be filling up a small sketchbook as well as making a selection of small to medium-sized paintings.
Learn how to loosen up and create an impression of what you see, rather than something very literal.
All materials are provided as well as lovely refreshments throughout the day and a healthy light luncheon.
We round off with a glass of Champagne to celebrate your creations.
Don’t worry if you think you cannot draw. Lesley will help you see things in a different way, so that you are just making marks and responding to what you see. All you have to do is be prepared to DARE!
