‘One-Day Monotype Printmaking Workshop with Emerson Mayes Thursday 1 October | £150
We are delighted to offer a rare opportunity to take part in a one-day monotype printmaking workshop with acclaimed artist Emerson Mayes. This immersive session will introduce you to the techniques and methods Emerson uses to create his award-winning wildlife prints.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced artists alike and is designed to be highly practical and hands-on. Working in an intimate studio setting, you’ll explore the expressive, painterly possibilities of monotype printmaking and create your own unique prints under Emerson’s expert guidance.
What is monotype?
Monotype is a distinctive printmaking technique that produces one-of-a-kind prints. Images can be created positively by applying ink or paint directly to the plate, or negatively by wiping away areas to reveal the image. Emerson will guide you through both approaches, allowing you time to experiment and produce at least one ink-based monotype and one paint-based monotype during the day.
