Caroline Ross is an artist, writer, and maker whose practice is rooted in the wild materials of the natural world. Trained at Kingston University and the Chelsea School of Art, she has over thirty years of teaching experience and now teaches internationally and online. Working from her new home in Northumberland, Ross forages pigments, tools, and inks from the landscapes around her—grinding earths into paint, shaping quills from moulted swan and goose feathers, and transforming found and discarded materials into the foundations of her craft.
She is the author of Found and Ground and Drawn from the Wild, and is a member of both the Wilderness Art Collective and the Dark Mountain Collective. Her drawings, paintings, and illustrations appear in books, journals, and private collections worldwide. Ross’s work continues her call to “rewild” artistic practice, honouring ecological awareness, traditional craftsmanship, and the intimate creative possibilities of the more-than-human world.
We are delighted that Caroline is going to be running her first workshop at The Limes Art School next summer, passing on her vast knowledge of making art materials and equipment from natural and locally sourced ingredients.
